My double glazing unit has now cleared ! a great idea and hack I could do myself with very little effort.

Took my time drilling the holes, and kept dipping the point of the drill bit in water. No problems I applied the vacuum cleaner to one hole, to pull dry warm air through the unit, and must have created a perfect seal. That created a partial vacuum

Double glazing refers to a window that has two panes of glass. The main component of the window is the double-glazed sealed unit, also known as an insulated glass unit (IGU) which sits in a frame of uPVC, aluminium, or timber. The IGU comprises of two sheets of glass separated by a spacer bar to create an air gap which is filled with an insulating gas.

In this situation, why replace the unit when you can fix it? How Insulated Glass Works With double pane windows, the insulating airspace in between the glass panels reduces heat loss. Most modern windows have two panes of glass an inner seal to protect against moisture and corrosion, and an outer seal to protect the strength of the window. The seals hold a spacer in place Why Do Seals Break? For the most part insulated glass windows work extremely well.

Using a window kit - The 5 step process of clearing your windows

 

Condensation forms Between a failed Double-glazing Unit When condensation between double pane windows forms it means the seal on the insulated glass unit has failed. In this situation, why replace the unit when you can fix it?


tick Step 1 - Apply the clear anti-slip drill stickers to the top right and bottom left of the window

tick Step 2 - Drill two holes using the tungsten glass drill bit, Drill into the centre of the anti-slip sticker and drill both holes

tick Step 3 - Leave both drill holes open until the condensation starts to clear

tick Step 4 - Insert the moisture drying agent to absorb the trapped condensation in your window

tick Step 5 - Insert the breathable plugs... and that it!
